Jean Paul Gaultier

Gaultier wrote, directed and dressed a stage revue and opened it at the Folies Bergère on 2 October 2018. Nile Rodgers produced it and ran the music, writing two original numbers on top of the soundtrack. Tonie Marshall co-directed, Marion Motin choreographed, Keegan Curran did sound. Rossy de Palma and Catherine Deneuve appear in the filmed sections. It has since played London, Tokyo, Munich, Lisbon, Milan, Barcelona and Brisbane.

The thirty-eight tracks open on Chic twice over, with Le Freak and then Good Times. After that the playlist swings between Charpentier’s Te Deum, Mistinguett singing Ça c’est Paris, Joséphine Baker, Shirley Bassey doing Light My Fire, Madonna, Stromae and Bronski Beat.
