Balenciaga

BFRND is the alias of Loïk Gomez, a self-taught musician raised in a small town in the south of France. He met Demna in 2016 and married him a year later; the name comes from Demna misspelling boyfriend. From 2017 he wrote every Balenciaga show score from scratch, starting with a brief on the collection’s mood. Balenciaga Music launched on 21 May 2024 with NFC-chipped hoodies, a four-hour playlist and an 8-bit game that takes players through four past runways to collect house products.

The playlist collects twenty-eight of those scores, nearly all BFRND originals and collaborations. Ufo361, Vladimir Cauchemar and Gustave Rudman appear alongside his remix of Britney Spears’ Gimme More. It starts on Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata played by Paul Lewis. The playlist note says the scores are best heard loudly.
